Michigan Cactus and Succulent Society

-

The Michigan Cactus & Succulent Society welcomes you to our website. We hope you'll want to join us in person. Membership in a club like ours revolves around people who share Your interest in succulent plants and gardening in general. We're men & women, young & old. What ties us together is our mutual love of succulent plants. Please take the time to read this brief description of our club and then join us!

cssa Our society was born in January, 1943. Our motto is "Education & Fraternity". We are affiliated with other cactus clubs throughout the USA through the Cactus & Succulent Society of America and through exchange of bulletins.

Our PURPOSE is to study, propagate and cultivate cacti and other succulents. Many of our members have a special interest in the two cacti native to Michigan, Opuntia compressa and Opuntia fragillis and other cacti that survive out-of-doors through our severe winters. We also are a voice for conservation locally and at the national level.

Our MEETINGS are usually held once a month on the second Sunday. Our programs may be beautiful slide shows, lectures and workshops. We also go on field trips to local nurseries and to member's homes to see their collections. We hold a Judged Plant Show usually in June. Our annual Plant Sale is held in September. Our regular meeting place is Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Campbell Road (just west of I-75) at 11 1/2 Mile Road in Royal Oak.
