Compression, Compaction, and Condensation List Lucky 13.0
February 22, 2008

We're having growing pains again, with pots scattered hither and yonder. This morning I swept under ten benches, bumped my head only once, and discovered the upper half of a broken label whose tail end had forlornly accompanied some ancient ophthalmophyllums. Zag matched zig! Whilst engaging in congestion and consolidation I've discovered all sorts of interesting things that might find takers. Many of these are in short supply.

I am offering quite a few conophytums and other "winter" mesembs. To disturb them now amounts to getting up on the wrong side of bed in reverse, but they handle it well as long as they travel before April and are kept for a week in the half-dark. Our weather has been so damp that the plants haven't yet been cooked into dormancy.

Ordering is complicity itself: email me your desires, I'll email you a quote including priority postage, and tax where apt; you snail a check or money order payable to Steve Hammer; off we go.

In response to many inquiries I should note that I have no Ananas today, also no Haworthia bruynsii and H. springbokvlaktensis. I do have new broods of seedlings, but these won't mature for two or three years, even more if the Colorado meanwhile grows as salty as industrial-strength Swanson. Also I have no variegates for sale. Whenever one rears its misbegotten head I feed it to my guinea pigs, for whom the achlorophyllous stripes represent an especially tender delicacy, like German gourmands savoring blanched asparagus.
