WELCOME TO THE ASSOCIATION

Our focus is on helping people grow winter hardy cactus and succulents. We limit ourselves to zones 3-6 wet and dry. Through questions from members and articles written, growing knowledge is gained. We have a quarterly publication; March, June, Sept. and Dec. Each issue will have at least one page of color photos.

Regular Feature Articles That Will Be Appearing in Every Issue of the Newsletter Are:

"From My Experience", by John N. Spain.

Mr. Spain has been growing winter hardy cactus since 1965. He has had the experience of growing them in three states, Michigan, New Jersey, and Connecticut. His books have helped thousands of people start their own first cactus bed. Now his experience is yours 4 times a year in the pages of the Association newsletter.

"Deadwoods Plants," by Dave Sierer.

DaveSierer, also known as Deadwood and the founder of the 'Too Cold For CactusGroup' writes about his favorite plants, growing conditions, raised beds,trades, weather, and travels. Dave grows hundreds of hardy cactus, othersucculents, grasses, and some Alpines in USDA zone 4 in southwest Wisconsin,U.S.A. The weather here uses all the numbers on the thermometer -40 F to +108 F and we get lots of snow and rain. You'll be surprised what can be grown almost anywhere!

"The Succulent Corner", by Janis Noyes

Janis Noyes brings 20 years of hardy succulent growing experience to you in her articles about growing hardy succulents. Plants like Sempervivum, Sedum, Jovibarba, Rosularia, Orostachys, etc. Questions are encouraged!!!

"Cactus Jack is Trading!" by Roger Chaneske.

A place where trading is king and it's free. Any member can place a request to trade for winter hardy plants, cuttings, or seeds. Winter hardy plants, cuttings, or seeds will be given away throughout the year in every issue. (members only)

"Desert Adventures" by Bob Johnson

Mr. Johnson recounts his fascinating travels in the western United States in search of winter hardy cactus, agave, and yucca. In his articles he will share his 33 years of winter hardy growing experience with you. This is a learning experience not to be missed!
